Detlef Hindenberg (born May 25, 1947 ) is a former German goalkeeper. For BSG Stahl Riesa and BSG Chemie Leipzig , he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football, in the 1970s .

Athletic career

From 1968 to 1977 Detlef Hindenberg was represented in the higher-class football of the GDR, but only made it to the goalkeeper in three seasons of the second-rate GDR league . After he had already been active as a young player with the East Berlin police club SC Dynamo Berlin , he rose in 1968 with the 2nd team of the BFC Dynamo in the GDR league. He also completed the 1968/69 season with BFC II and was number one in goal with 27 appearances in 30 GDR league games. He was then replaced by Hans-Gustav Creydt , who was a year younger , and was only called up nine times in the GDR league in 1969/70. For the 1970/71 season, Hindenberg was deported to FSG Dynamo Frankfurt in the third-class district league , with which he immediately rose to the GDR league. However, he moved to the top division Stahl Riesa, where he was a substitute goalkeeper behind Dietmar Urbanek and only played one top division game in 1971/72. Since Riesa had to relegate, Hindenberg played second class again, but was once again goalkeeper number one with 15 appearances in 22 point games. Although Riesa was immediately promoted back to the league, Hindenberg joined BSG Chemie Leipzig in the spring of 1973. There he ranked behind regular goalkeeper Siegfried Stötzner and only made seven league appearances. In Leipzig, too, Hindenberg experienced a decline again after a year. However, he was no longer considered in the GDR league and had to play with the 2nd team in the district league. From 1975/76 he played for the GDR league club Motor Eberswalde . There he was with only six league games, Hindenberg was only number two in goal behind Gert Jüsgen . Then Hindenberg made another change and went to East Berlin GDR league club EAB Lichtenberg 47 . There he was finally the first goalkeeper again, he played all 22 league games of the 1976/77 season. It was his last season in higher-class football, because Lichtenberg had to relegate to the district league.
