Detlef Lingemann

Detlef Lingemann (born November 10, 1954 in Düsseldorf ) is a German diplomat . He was last Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Finland from 2017 to 2020 .

Life

After graduation in 1973 in Dusseldorf and military service he studied from 1975 jurisprudence at the Universities of Bonn, London and Strasbourg.

career

After joining the Foreign Service in 1981, he was employed at the Foreign Office and, from 1983, at the Embassy in Moscow . From 1986 to 1989 he was Permanent Representative of the Ambassador to Mali . He then worked at the Foreign Office and most recently from 1992 to 1995 as deputy head of a department.

From 1995 to 2000 Lingemann headed the press department of the German embassy in the United States of America . He then worked again at the Foreign Office in Berlin , initially as a lecturer in the first class of the Legation Council and head of division in the economic department and then from 2003 to October 2004 as a representative for economic aspects of globalization and for development policy.

From October 2004 to 2006 Lingemann was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Azerbaijan . From 2006 to 2008 Lingemann was permanent representative of the German ambassador in Moscow . Subsequently, he was commissioner for foreign trade promotion in the Foreign Office. From 2010 to 2011 Lingemann was the Foreign Office's representative for export control and technology.

From 2011 to 2014 Lingemann again worked as ambassador to the Czech Republic and from 2014 to 2017 as ambassador of the Federal Republic in Bulgaria . He was then Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Finland from 2017 to 2020 .
