Detlef Müller (* 28. September 1955 in Cottbus , † 21 January 2016 ) was a German football player in the defense . He played for BSG Energie Cottbus in the GDR league .
Career
Müller played in his youth from 1966 to 1969 for his home club BSG Lok RAW Cottbus. He then moved to the youth department of BSG Energie Cottbus and finally to the first team. Before he made ten league appearances for Energie in the second-rate GDR league in the 1977/78 season , he had already played 25 GDR league games and scored three goals during his military service with the 2nd team of the BFC Dynamo . Müller celebrated his GDR league debut for Cottbus on October 2, 1977 in a 1-1 draw against ASG Vorwärts Plauen . In the following season he played no game. In 1979/80 Müller scored three goals in eleven league games, in 1980/81 he only made three appearances and one goal, but still rose with Cottbus. In the league season 1981/82 he made his debut on October 14, 1981 when he was substituted on for Hagen Wellschmidt on the 7th match day in the 3-0 defeat against 1. FC Magdeburg in the 65th minute of play . This was his only game in the highest league in the GDR. After the season, Müller moved to BSG Lokomotive Cottbus , where he stayed until 1984. He then went to the BSG activist Dissenchen, before moving back to his youth club BSG Lok RAW Cottbus in 1986.
From 1997 to 1998 Müller worked as head coach at SV Wacker 09 Cottbus-Ströbitz. Then he was player- coach until 2000 and head coach at SV Fichte Kunersdorf from 2004 to 2005. In between, Müller had trained the women's team at FC Energie Cottbus.
