Detlef Raabe

Detlef Raabe (born May 24, 1971 in Moers ) is a German trade union secretary , qualified lawyer and was chairman of the German Federal Youth Association (DBJR) from 2003 to 2009 . From 2006 to 2009 he was also a member of the Federal Youth Board of Trustees .

Education and employment

After graduating from high school Adolfinum , he trained as a civil servant for the city of Duisburg. After completing his training, he continued to work for the city of Duisburg and at the same time studied law in Bremen and at the Ruhr University Bochum . After passing the first state examination and graduating as a qualified lawyer (RUB), he was elected as the last federal youth secretary of the ÖTV at the Federal Youth Conference of the ÖTV trade union in 2000 . After the merger to form the United Services Union-ver.di , he first worked in the youth department, then in the public service collective bargaining office and is currently department head of the organizational policy department in the ver.di federal administration.

DBJR Chair

For the DGB-Jugend he first joined the main committee of the DBJR in 2001 and was elected chairman in 2003. Before that, he had been active in various youth associations since childhood. In addition to the large participation campaigns " Project P " and du-machst , the planned reforms of the Child and Youth Welfare Act , the public promotion of the work of the youth associations and the establishment of the JuLeiCa were the focal points of the work of the entire DBJR during this time. In addition to many other topics, as DBJR chairman, he campaigned at an early stage for a ban on German youth who were loyal to their home country, imposed by the Federal Minister of the Interior in 2009 . After being re-elected twice, he did not stand for election in 2009. Today he is the youth association work u. a. still connected through the activity in the board of trustees of the foundation "Jugend macht Demokratie".

In 2011 he was awarded the Federal Medal of Merit for his work, particularly in the work of youth associations .

Since 2006 he is u. a. Co-author of comments on TVöD and TV-L for CH Beck-Verlag. From 2011 to 2015 he was a member of the administrative board (supervisory body) of the Federal and State Pension Fund (VBL) and spokesman for the representatives of the insured.

As employee representative, he has been a member of the Supervisory Board of RWE Power AG since 2018 .
