Deutsche Bank Players Championship of Europe
The German Bank Players Championship of Europe until 2007 was a golf tournament that annually one week after the Open Championship was held and within the Tournament Players Championship of the PGA European Tour as a European of professional Gulf was performed. After the Open de France , it was considered the most important golf tournament on the European mainland. The winner obtained a five-year eligibility to play on the European Tour.
history
The event was held for the first time in 1992 under the name Honda Open , received the additional designation Tournament Players' Championship of Europe ( TPC of Europe for short ) in 1995 and ran until 1997 as the Deutsche Bank Open TPC of Europe . From 1998 to 2004 the tournament was called Deutsche Bank - SAP Open TPC of Europe . In 2004 SAP withdrew as title sponsor, and in 2007 Deutsche Bank followed. So the end of the tournament was sealed for the time being.
Prize money
At last € 3.6 million, the competition was one of the most highly endowed tournaments on the Tour and was only surpassed by the Open de France (€ 4 million) on mainland Europe .
Venues
The tournament was held at Gut Kaden Golf and Land Club in Alveslohe near Hamburg . Originally, the venue changed every two years with the St. Leon-Rot Golf Club near Heidelberg until the title sponsor SAP withdrew .
