German Society for Election Research
The German Society for Election Research ( DGfW for short ) is an association of German academic election researchers founded in 2007 . The aim of the association is to create an institutionalized, long-term, national election study.
aims
According to some German election researchers, German election research , which is a sub-discipline of political science and has achieved an extraordinarily high position, lacked a permanently anchored and financially secure national election study. Since previous studies differed greatly from a scientific, methodological, organizational and personnel point of view, they saw the danger that, for example, before federal electionsno studies could be carried out and the results obtained from an electoral study could not or hardly be compared with previous studies. The election researchers also saw the need to involve researchers from other scientific areas in the studies and to make the results available to the media and politicians as quickly as possible. That is why election researchers started an initiative in January 2007, the aim of which was to create a German national election study, the German Election Study . On July 12, 2007, the German Society for Election Research was finally founded in Mainz and registered as a non-profit association eight days later at the Mannheim District Court .
