The DQS Holding GmbH based in Frankfurt am Main is the parent company of DQS group (own notation: DQS group ). The company's activities include the assessment of business processes of all kinds and the certification of management systems .

history

DQS was founded in 1985 as the first German certification company in Frankfurt am Main and was also the third management system certification body worldwide. The primary goal of the founding shareholders DGQ ( German Society for Quality ) and DIN ( German Institute for Standardization ) was to promote the German economy.

The founding coincided with the publication of the first drafts of the ISO 9000 series of standards, which is now the world's most important quality management standard, ISO 9001. In 1986, DQS was the first certifier in Germany to issue an ISO 9001 certificate.

After the merger of DQS with the Management Systems Solutions (MSS) division of the American product certifier Underwriters Laboratories Inc. in March 2008, the DQS-UL group was one of the world's largest system certifiers. The company has been operating worldwide as the DQS Group since June 2015 .

Corporate structure

According to its own information, DQS Holding GmbH has more than 80 branches in over 60 countries, which form a network within the scope of international projects. According to the company, the approximately 20,000 customers of the DQS Group from over 100 countries represent all industries and the DQS certificates can be found at more than 57,000 locations (as of October 2014).

In 2017, the group employed an annual average of 2,499 permanent and freelance auditors worldwide . The largest companies in the group include DQS Inc. (USA), DQS do Brasil Ltd., DQS Japan Inc., DQS Medizinprodukte GmbH, DQS CFS GmbH - German Society for Sustainability and DQS GmbH in Germany.

The range of services of the group of companies in Germany is provided by DQS GmbH with headquarters in Frankfurt am Main and a regional office in Hamburg. With over 200 employees and around 800 auditors, DQS GmbH is the largest subsidiary of DQS Holding GmbH.

Working method

A specialty is the working method of the group of companies. The appraisal services are mainly performed by external auditors on a fee basis. The auditors usually work for companies in the sector in which they also assess. In connection with proven certification and industry knowledge, a high level of expertise from practice and science as well as a constantly updated state of the art from the relevant industries should flow into the assessment.

DQS is a founding and full member of the international certification network IQNet Association , which was established in 1990 . The main objective of the network, which has around 40 members (as of October 2015), is the mutual worldwide recognition of the certificates issued by the member companies.
