German championship in field hockey 1940 (men)

In the 1939/40 season , a German championship in men's field hockey was held for the fourth time. The organizer was the National Socialist Reich Association for Physical Exercise after the German Hockey Association was dissolved on October 22, 1933. Berliner SV 1892 became German field hockey champions by winning the final in Berlin against defending champions TV Sachsenhausen 1857.

Eleven teams had qualified for the finals through the regional championships. Therefore, three preliminary round games were necessary. The remaining five teams were seeded for the quarter-finals. Unless otherwise stated, the games took place on the grounds of the first-mentioned club.
