German championship in indoor hockey 1962 (men)

The first German indoor championship for men was held on February 24 and 25, 1962 in Wuppertal-Barmen in the Heckinghausen sports hall. The count is only valid for the Federal Republic of Germany ; German indoor championships have been played in the GDR since 1951 . The women played their first indoor championship on the same weekend in Frankfurt .

The champions of the 11 regional associations of Baden, Bavaria, Berlin, Bremen, Hamburg, Hesse, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate / Saar, Schleswig-Holstein, West Germany and Württemberg were entitled to start. From West Germany, the host state association, the runner-up was also allowed to start in order to achieve the same group size. It was played in two groups of six participants each, in the final round the runners-up played for third place, the first in the group for the title.

Carsten Keller scored the winning goal in the first minute of extra time. The Berlin HC was also the reigning field champion and was able to defend this title in 1962.
