Ascent

Promotion rounds were held for the last time before the introduction of the 2nd Bundesliga. The promotion round north took place in Hamburg, the promotion round south in Hanau. Since the HTC Uhlenhorst Mülheim moved from the south group to the north group after the season, there were two promoted teams in the south.
