December Kisses is a German drama from 2004 by the German-Israeli director and screenwriter Gabriel Bornstein . The film was shot exclusively in the St. Pauli Church and the Friedenskirche in Hamburg.
action
Shortly before Christmas, the petty crook Freddy is involved in a shootout at the port of Hamburg . Severely wounded, he drags himself to a friend, a pastor in Hamburg 's St. Pauli district . The pastor hides him from the police in a small chamber in the steeple of St. Pauli Church . When Laura, the pastor's 17-year-old daughter, discovers the wounded man, she takes loving care of him. An intimate love relationship develops between the two. On Christmas Day, the two are caught by the pastor, who now refuses to protect Freddy from the police any longer.
Reviews
In the film review of the Hamburger Morgenpost it was said that the film was a “nice little love story”. The two main actors who “play the whole range of emotions of curiosity, attraction, desire, seduction and rejection” were particularly emphasized. However, it was criticized that "the switch between trust and mistrust sometimes seems quite clichéd". The lexicon of international film also ruled that the "MiniDV filmed, chamber play-like crime drama" would live "on the presence of the two main actors".
