The Diana class is a series of six patrol boats that has been in service with the Royal Danish Navy since 2007 . The boats form Division 24 and are subordinate to the 2nd Squadron ( 2nd Squadron ) in Korsør .
In December 2004 , the Danish company Faaborg Værft was commissioned to build six Standardfartøj MK II patrol boats to replace the nine boats of the Barsø class (built in 1963–1973) . The production of the hulls and superstructures from glass fiber reinforced plastic was subcontracted to the Swedish Kockums shipyard.
The boats are powered by two MTU - Diesel engines powered Series 396 TB 16V 94 and reach a speed of 25 knots . The range is given as 1,000 nautical miles . The armament consists of two heavy machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber. The rigid inflatable boat is carried in a stern tub and lowered into the water through a gate.
