The Diana is a motor ship that travels the Swedish Göta Canal on the route from Gothenburg to Stockholm and back.
The ship was built in 1931 by Finnboda Varv in Nacka , Stockholm , and delivered with a steam engine with 194 kW, a top speed of nine knots and a maximum transport capacity of 200 people. In 1969 the ship received today's machinery. The transport capacity was reduced to a maximum of 125 people. In regular traffic, only the 28 existing double cabins are occupied by a maximum of 56 people. In 2003 the ship was renovated. Care was taken to ensure that the historical impression was retained.
The ship is the youngest ship in the Götakanal fleet , alongside the Wilhelm Tham and the Juno . It was in 2010 by the National Maritime Museum of Sweden under monument protection provided.
In the crime novel Die Tote im Götakanal by Maj Sjöwall and Per Wahlöö from 1965 a murder is committed on the Diana , the investigation of which is the subject of the book.
