Diana Schnürpel (* 1983 in Lipetsk ) is a Russian opera singer ( soprano / coloratura soprano ).

Life

Diana Schnürpel was born into a family of musicians: Her mother Irina Kuznetsova was a pianist and taught at a conservatory. Her grandfather Nikolai Kopytow was an opera singer and her grandmother Cecilia Baitsch a concert pianist. Schnürpel first received piano lessons, but learned singing from his grandfather and took part in regional piano and singing competitions.

This was followed by school education for music-gifted children and then studying music in Lipetsk. In 2001 she completed her studies in piano with distinction and took up singing studies at the Choral Art Academy in Moscow with the opera singer Nina Rautio, from which she graduated in 2005 with a bachelor's degree. She then studied opera singing in Leipzig at the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" College of Music and Theater under the chamber singer Regina Werner-Dietrich . She completed this course in 2010 with a diploma.

She took part in many competitions and was a finalist of the Lortzing Competition, Leipzig 2011 and 2012, the Grandi Voci Opera Singing Competition, Salzburg 2012 and in 2011 she won the 3rd prize of the VII National and II International Jószef Simándy Singing Competition in Szeged / Hungary. In 2012 she took lessons from the opera singer and Wagner tenor Manfred Jung .

Schnürpel her stage debut was in Germany with the game of the bride in Les Noces by Igor Stravinsky at the Ruhr Piano Festival in Duisburg in July 2013. After that, she sang the role of the Queen of the Night in The Magic Flute at the State Theater Braunschweig , at the State Theater in Detmold , at the City Theater Klagenfurt , at the Landestheater Salzburg , at the Graz Opera , at the German National Theater Weimar and most recently at the Lucerne Theater , where she has been a member of the ensemble since August 2016.

Schnürpel is also active as a song and concert singer. Her concert repertoire includes works by JS Bach , Beethoven , Brahms , Handel , Mozart and Antonio Salieri . She began her concert activities in 2012 in Bavaria with Das Marienleben by Paul Hindemith and church concerts in Ludwigsburg with the setting of the Stabat mater by Antonín Dvořák . She also sang in a chamber music matinee of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra with nursery rhymes in the 1st version by Leoš Janáček .

For the roles of Venus and Gepopo in Le Grande Macabre by György Ligeti and the title role of Maria Stuarda by Gaetano Donizetti , she received attention in the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons and her great and unique coloratura ability was combined with the warm sound of the Voice certified.
