Diana Skibbe (born Diana Walther ; born March 3, 1961 in Zeulenroda ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). Skibbe was a member of the Thuringian State Parliament from 2004 to 2009 and from 2012 to 2019 .

Career

From 1977 to 1983 Skibbe completed a teaching degree in physics and astronomy and then worked as a teacher in Langenwetzendorf until she was elected to the state parliament . Since 1986 she has been a member of the SED . In the 2004 state elections , she entered the state parliament for the first time as a candidate on the list of the then PDS . In the state elections in 2009 , she ran for state list position 21, which was not enough for direct re-entry into the state parliament. As a direct candidate in the constituency of Greiz II , she received 22.9% of the votes and thus only achieved third place behind Horst Krauße (CDU) and Heike Taubert (SPD). On July 1, 2012 Skibbe moved again as a successor in the Thuringian state parliament. She took over one of the mandates that had become available through the election success of left-wing politicians in the local elections in Thuringia in 2012. For the 2014 state elections , she was re-elected from her party's state list; as a constituency candidate in the constituency of Greiz I , she took second place behind Volker Emde (CDU) with 29.9 percent of the vote . To state election in 2019 it has not raced for more.

Skibbe is also the district chairman of her party in the district of Greiz , a member of the district council there and the city council of Zeulenroda-Triebes . In 2006 and 2018 she ran unsuccessfully for the office of mayor. She is married and has two children.

Diana Skibbe has been President of the Thuringian Chess Federation since 2005 and has held the title of FIDE Women's Champion (WFM) since 2013. Her Elo rating is 2018 (as of May 2017), her highest rating of 2130 she reached in October 2002. Skibbe played in the 1st Women's Bundesliga in the 1992/93 season with Metall Gera , from 1995 to 1998 with OTG Gera as well as in the seasons 2000/01 and 2005/06 with TSV Zeulenroda . In 2002 she won the German women's team championship of the regional associations with the Thuringian team in Braunfels .

Her son Willi has been FIDE champion since 2013 and played with SSC Rostock 07 in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2014/15 season .
