Dichloro (diethyl) silane is a chemical compound from the group of organosilicon compounds .
Extraction and presentation
Dichloro (diethyl) silane is formed together with chloro (triethyl) silane and trichloro (ethyl) silane via the Müller-Rochow synthesis . Powdered silicon reacts with chloroethane in the presence of powdered copper and copper oxides as a catalyst to form dichloro (diethyl) silane:
properties
Dichloro (diethyl) silane is a colorless, moisture-sensitive liquid with a refractive index of 1.4309 (20 ° C).
The following chemical shifts are observed in the nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of dichloro (diethyl) silane :
Si – CH 2 - | -CH 3 | |

1 H. | 1.10 | 1.10 |
13 C | 12.2 | 6.1 |
safety instructions
The vapor of dichloro (diethyl) silane can form an explosive mixture with air ( flash point 26.1 ° C, below explosion limit : 1.13 vol%).
use
By hydrogenating dichlorodiethylsilane with lithium aluminum hydride or sodium hydride , diethylsilane can be produced:
