Dicobalt phosphide is a chemical compound of cobalt from the group of phosphides . In addition to cobalt (II) phosphide exist with the equally gray Cobalttriphosphid CoP 3 and Cobaltmonophosphid other Cobaltphosphide CoP.

Extraction and presentation

Dicobalt phosphide (like the other cobalt phosphides) can be obtained by reacting a stoichiometric mixture of cobalt with red phosphorus at 650-700 ° C.

properties

Dicobalt phosphide is a gray solid that is insoluble in water. It is soluble in nitric acid . It has an orthorhombic crystal structure with the space group Pnma (space group no. 62) and the lattice parameters a = 6.638  Å , b = 5.67 Å and c = 3.52 Å. The structure corresponds to an anti- PbCl 2 structure. Template: room group / 62
