Dicranodontium (German two-pronged moss ) is a genus of deciduous moss from the Leucobryaceae family .

features

The upright, almost unbranched plants form dense lawns or cushions. The leaves are drawn out from a short, widened base into a long awl tip and have a broad rib that fills and emerges from the awl part. The cross-section of the rib shows a number of median deuter cells, on each side of which a stereoscopic band and a layer of epidermal cells. Leaf-wing cells are clearly differentiated and inflated, the remaining lamina cells are rectangular to elongated.

The species are diocesan . The seta is moist curved, dry upright, the spore capsule upright, cylindrical and smooth, the peristome teeth are split down to the base, the lid is conical and beaked. In addition to reproduction by spores, vegetative reproduction also takes place through slightly falling leaves.

Systematics

The genus Dicranodontium was traditionally part of the Dicranaceae family . According to the Frey / Fischer / Stech system, it is separated from some other genera from Dicranaceae and placed in the Leucobryaceae family .

species

Information about the number of species is very different in the literature; in Frey / Fischer / Stech 15 species are given worldwide.
