The First Night is a German short film by Timo Landsiedel from 2003 .
action
At night a young man makes his way home alone. The noises of the night condense into an invisible pursuer who chases the man through the night.
Criticism and background
The First Night pays homage to the invasion films of the 1950s and 1960s. Without dialogue, the short film manages to create a dense atmosphere of tension and disturbance despite its short running time. The newsletter of the cultural film funding Schleswig-Holstein writes:
"In The First Night [...] director Timo Landsiedel skilfully plays with the dramaturgy of psycho and splatter movies."
