The killer tomatoes strike back (original title: The Killer Tomatoes Strike Back ) is an American comedy / science fiction film from 1990. action
At the beginning of the storyline, two corpses are discovered in a forest. In order to solve these murders, the childish detective Lance Boyle ( Rick Rockwell ) - who is called by his police colleagues only "The Spinner" - is sent to the scene by his superior Captain Wilbur Finletter ( J. Stephen Peace ). He is supported by the “tomatologist” Kennedi Johnson ( Crystal Carson ), who tries to convince him that the perpetrators were killer tomatoes .
At first, Detective Boyle can't believe that evil, mutated killer tomatoes are responsible for the murders. After Miss Kennedi Johnson can only with difficulty evade two attacks by killer tomatoes, he only changes his mind after the third attack, which he also witnesses, saves her life and gives her faith. Then they go to find the culprit. With the help of the benign "Wuscheltomate" you will soon find it; it is the insane tomato expert Professor Mortimer gangrene (original version: Mortimer Gongreen ) ( John Astin ), who has the absurd plan to get the world under his control with the help of his aggressive vegetable cultivation. Disguised as TV talk show host Jeronahew, he plans to use the "tele-thought manipulator" from a television station to transform couch potatoes who are in front of the television into mindless zombies and to impose his will on them in order to usurp world domination. He also already has all of the media under his control. Then he lets the tomato specialist Miss Kennedi Johnson kidnap his killer tomatoes into his headquarters. Detective Boyle then takes up the chase.
In the "Temple of Fruit", where Miss Johnson is supposed to be a gala dinner for the assembled killer tomatoes as a side dish for a huge sandwich, the showdown takes place. When her defeat seems to be sealed, Miss Johnson is able to free herself with the help of detective Boyle, who has hurried after her. When Professor gangrene accidentally comes into contact with fertilizer in the midst of the turmoil, his killer tomatoes attack him and the fight is over.
Reviews
"Completely over-the-top nonsense comedy that contains some humorous scenes and original parodies of classic film scenes (e.g. the shower scene from 'Psycho'), but ultimately tires the viewer more than it entertains."
"Absurd nonsense with a few muddled gags."
