The Kirchdorfer are a band that became known through their appearances in the Hacker festival tent , one of the large festival tents at the Oktoberfest by Wiesn host Thomas Roiderer (son of Anton Roiderer ) at the Oktoberfest in Munich . The name refers to the place Kirchdorf am Haunpold near Bruckmühl .

The group is assigned to the sector of Oktoberfest / party, mood, dance and light music and, in addition to current songs, also plays hits, hits, oldies, rock, pop, big band and brass music.

history

The music group was founded in 1870 by an association of village musicians who traditionally performed on all secular and religious occasions. It was not until 1974 that the integration of keyboard , electric bass and electric guitar brought about a revolution in the traditional brass music sector in terms of repertoire and line-up. Inspired by their idol James Last , the Kirchdorfer u. a. the typical happy sound to this day .

The line-up varies between 6 and 21 musicians ( combo / big band ), depending on the type and size of the event and the extent to which the brass section is used.

The band gained international fame from 1994 when they played at the Oktoberfest in Munich, where the Kirchdorfers have played every year since then. From 2009 to 2018 the band was also firmly committed to the strong beer festival (during Lent ) in the traditional Löwenbräukeller in Munich and framed the stone lifting competition traditionally held among "strong men": the lifting of a 508 pound stone that Hans was born in 1848 Steyrer , called "Bavarian Hercules", is said to have lifted with a single finger. Since 2018, Die Kirchdorfer have been playing at the strong beer festival Salvator bar of the Paulaner brewery on Nockherberg in Munich.

In addition, the band has performed in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and is engaged in numerous Oktoberfests outside of Europe. a. already several times in Brazil ( Oktoberfest Blumenau ), Chile ( Kunstmann (brewery) ), China, Dubai, DR Congo, India, Japan, Namibia ( Oktoberfest Windhoek ), Russia, South Africa, South Korea and Thailand (a total of over 100 tours in 17 countries) .
