The Nuts were an indie pop band from Altötting that was founded in 1992. They released two albums on the independent label Trikont in the mid-1990s .

history

Founded in Altötting in 1992, a record deal was signed in 1995 with the renowned independent label Trikont , which was promoting German-language indie rock at the Hamburg school at the time . In 1995, the debut album Something is always missing . In the same year, the song from a holy city appeared on the compilation by Franz Dobler , Where is at home Mama . In Austria, Die Nuts became known through the radio show Salon Helga .

The second album Yourself was released in November 1996. The FM4 presenters Christoph Grissemann , Dirk Stermann and Fritz Ostermayer have their voice answering machine on the album yourself hired. In the same year the track Der Tag appeared on the Trikont anniversary compilation Der Trikont Sampler - 25 Years of Our Own Voice . The band broke up at an unknown point in time.

style

Musically, the nuts are probably closest to indie pop. Her music contains elements of various styles of music, including elements of ska and punk rock , but also hip-hop beats and surf rhythms. Many songs describe society from below and tell of life in a deadlocked system that, in addition to hopelessness, can only offer disappointment. An example of this is the song Never :

No one has "you have asked only said yes
never complained only wish adjourned every
[...]
while you celebrate selling yourself to a stuck up
because the human can do with everything
[...]
have leaked alive
are at the longing died "

- The Nuts - Never : Something's Always Missing (1995)

In response to this, an anarchist attitude is described that is combative, anti-authoritarian ( The Boss ), anti- patriotic ( The rest of the plague ) or critical of the church ( From a holy city ). These songs are juxtaposed with ironic songs ( quite expensive ) that have almost surreal features ( small tram ). The band also liked to flirt with its image as a small town band from the Bavarian province.
