The revenge of Ivanhoe (original title: La rivincita di Ivanhoe ) is a 1964 knight film , which Tanio Boccia staged cheaply. Lead actor Rik van Nutter acted under the pseudonym "Clyde Rogers" in the role of the title hero. It was premiered in German-speaking countries on October 29, 1965.
action
At the Hastings Castle, perfidious strategies are being pursued to take control of the entire area of the area from the weak King John Ohneland. So they have Rowena, the fiancée of the disenfranchised knight Ivanhoe, as hostage, whom they want to force to a wedding that suits them to Brian, who is sponsored by Johann. Ivanhoe himself frees their brother Arthur from the hands of the Hastings soldiers and plans the next steps with the hermit Tibaldo and the rebels of Lockey.
When Rowena demands a divine judgment after a false accusation, Ivanhoe fights for her against the son of the Hastings Patriarch, Bertrand, unrecognized. After his victory, however, the Hastings manage to bring Arthur into their power, so that Rowena agrees to the planned wedding with Brian. Ivanhoe can intercept this on his way to Hastings Castle and there pretends to be the bridegroom. Arthur is released and, as agreed with Ivanhoe, leads the rebels to the castle. In the following fighting, Bertrand is killed. Johann gives back all rights and lands to the knight Ivanhoe with his wife Rowena.
criticism
The "romantic knight adventure" is one of the many film adaptations of the material - and not the worst, despite limited funds, according to "Mymovies.it". The Protestant film observer comes to the following conclusion: A naive, adventurous, Italian picture book about England in the 13th century Century. From 12, no recommendation.
Remarks
In Italy the film was only shown in theaters in the provinces.
