The Smurfs / Discography

This discography is an overview of the musical works of the cartoon characters The Smurfs . The music was produced by the Dutchman Pierre Kartner from 1975 , the songs were in the music hit parades several times from 1978 . According to sources and record awards, they have sold more than ten million records to date. The most successful release of the Smurfs is the album Tekkno ist Cool - Vol. 1 with over 1.2 million units sold.

Origin and Success

As an additional promotion for the first Smurf feature film The Smurfs and the Magic Flute (1975), he wrote a Smurfenlied with a question-and-answer dialogue between him, the bearded, white-haired Vader Abraham , and the Smurfs. The song (Het Smurfenlied or 't Smurfenlied) was not only a huge hit in Belgium and the Netherlands. In Germany, the song of the Smurfs number 1 in England number two, each in their own national language version.

Unfortunately, due to the rhyme, some clever passages were lost during the translation. The answer to "Waarom zijn de smurfen klein" ("Why are you Smurfs small") was originally "Omdat jullie groter zijn" ("Because you are bigger") and became "We don't want to be bigger".

More songs

After that there were several small successes with successor singles, and to this day CDs are regularly released in which current hits are provided with German lyrics suitable for children and recorded with Smurf voices; from Shut Up and Sleep with Me was such as click-clack, come dance with me . However, these CDs have nothing to do with Vader Abraham , but were produced by Michael Rick .

Trivia

The boxer Arthur Abraham used the song of the Smurfs as the entry melody at the beginning of his career.
