The time of the first (original title: Время первых ) is a Russian film by the director Dmitri Kisseljow from 2017. Alternatively, the film is also marketed under the title Spacewalker .

action

The film tells the story of the cosmonauts Belyayev and Leonow and their space flight with the Woschod 2 in March 1965. On this mission, Alexei Leonow was the first person to leave the protective shell of his spaceship and float freely in space . The plot begins with Leonov's selection as a cosmonaut, describes the preparation of the cosmonauts for the flight, problems with the construction of the spaceship, the flight itself and the complicated recovery after landing due to the landing far away from the actual target area in the snow-covered Urals .

Alexei Leonow worked on the film as a consultant. He dedicated the film to his commandant Belyayev, who died early.

Deviations

The film differs in some representations from what actually happened:

• In the film, the first exit is originally planned for 1967 and will then be brought forward by Koroljow to 1965. Since the exit was an integral part of the Soviet manned lunar program , the first exit could not take place until 1967.
• Belyayev broke his leg while parachuting in 1961, not just while preparing for the Vozhod-2 flight.
• The landing capsule was found after 4 hours, not more than 9 hours.
• After landing, the cosmonauts made radio contact with the ground station; the signals were not picked up by an amateur radio operator by chance, as in the film.
• Wrong ranks are given for the cosmonauts. At the time of the flight, Belyayev was already a colonel (not a major), Leonov a lieutenant colonel (not a lieutenant).

Others

The film was released on DVD and Blu-ray under the title "Spacewalker". The film was screened in November 2017 at the Russian Film Week in Berlin .
