Diego Ifrán , full name Diego Ifrán Sala , (born June 8, 1987 in Cerro Chato ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.74-meter-tall offensive player Ifrán began his career in 2006 at Centro Atlético Fénix . From mid-2008 to mid-2010 he was under contract with Danubio in the Primera División . For the Montevideans he played 45 first division games and scored 27 goals. He then moved to Spain to Real Sociedad San Sebastián . He made his debut for the Spaniards on March 7, 2011 in the 27th matchday against Deportivo La Coruña , when he was substituted on by coach and compatriot Martín Lasarte in the 80th minute for Antoine Griezmann . In the first season 2010/11 he completed ten league games and scored twice in the opposing goal. In the two following seasons he continuously expanded his playing times. 16 league games (one goal) in 2011/12, followed by 26 appearances in the Primera División in the 2012/13 season. He also played in five Copa del Rey games during this period and twice defeated the opposing goalkeeper. In the 2013/14 round of play, Ifrán, who had to pause at Danubio for several months with a cruciate ligament injury, fell out in the second half of the year due to a cruciate ligament rupture in July 2013 and was not used. In March 2014 until June 30, 2014 he was loaned to the second division club Deportivo La Coruña with an extension option in the event of promotion to the first division. On March 23, 2014, he made his debut for La Coruña in the Segunda División in the game against Real Zaragoza . In total, he completed eleven league games by the end of the season and scored four goals. At the end of July 2014 there was another loan to CD Tenerife . In the 2014/15 season he played 28 games in the Liga Adelante and scored eleven times in the opposing goal. In early July 2015 he joined the Club Atlético Peñarol . In the "Aurinegros" he played in 20 first division games (four goals) by the end of the season and won both the Apertura 2015 and the 2015/16 championship with the team. He also played a game (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2016 . At the beginning of September 2016, he moved to Sporting Cristal . For the Peruvians, he was used in 22 league games (nine goals) and two encounters (no goal) of the Copa Libertadores 2017 . At the end of July 2017, he terminated his contract with the Peruvians and announced the end of his career on his Facebook profile page in August 2017 .
