from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dieter Bauer (born January 20, 1968 in Darmstadt ) is a German physicist . He teaches at the University of Rostock .

Life

Dieter Bauer attended the Brothers Grimm Primary School in Darmstadt from 1974 and went to the Justus Liebig High School in 1978 . There he passed his Abitur in 1987 . He spent the next two years in community service . Then, in 1989, he began studying physics at the TH Darmstadt . He completed his studies in 1995 with a diploma . This year the Technical University hired him as a scientific assistant . During this time he made study trips to Finland and Italy , where he worked as a research assistant for a few months.

1997 builder was TU Darmstadt with a thesis on Field ionization dynamics in strong laser fields for Doctor of Science doctorate . In the same year he switched to TU Darmstadt as an assistant.

In 2002, Bauer's habilitation for natural sciences followed on the basis of his work Intense laser field-induced multiphoton processes in single- and many-electron systems . Then, since February, he worked as a private lecturer . The following year he received a Heisenberg grant from the German Research Foundation . The scholarship enabled him to visit the Max Born Institute for Nonlinear Optics and Short Pulse Spectroscopy in 2003/2004 . He then went to the Max Planck Institute for Nuclear Physics in Heidelberg to lead a junior research group .

Bauer retired from Heidelberg University in 2005 and began teaching there in July . In 2007 he also became coordinator of the Max Planck Research School for Quantum Dynamics in Physics, Chemistry and Biology in Heidelberg .

Bauer left Heidelberg in 2009. In September of this year he was appointed to the University of Rostock and received a professorship for theoretical physics, quantum theory and many-body systems. His predecessor in this chair was Gerd Röpke .
