Dieter Ehret (born November 4, 1959 in Weisweil ) is a German politician , former member of the FDP . He was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

education and profession

After graduating from high school in 1978 in Kenzingen , Dieter Ehret studied civil engineering in Karlsruhe and architecture in Wiesbaden . He has been a freelance civil engineer in Weisweil since 1984.

Political activity

Dieter Ehret had been a member of the FDP since 1991. In 1989 he was elected to the council of Weisweil on the list of the FDP, of which he has been a member since then. After the municipal council elections in 1994 he was elected deputy mayor by the municipal council. Since 2004 he has been a member of the district council of the district of Emmendingen and member of the association assembly of the regional association Southern Upper Rhine .

From April 13, 2006 to May 2011, Ehret was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg . During the election he benefited in a special way from the electoral system, which provided for the allocation of second mandates to inferior constituency applicants according to the number of absolute votes in the constituency. His lead over the first non-elected FDP applicant in the Freiburg administrative district from the Lörrach constituency was 165 votes. Thanks to the nationwide FDP record result of 65.3%, Ehret received 617 votes in his home town of Weisweil alone, thus securing entry into the state parliament.

Ehret was the environmental policy spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group. Contrary to the majority position of the FDP, he also represents positions critical of nuclear power and advocated sticking to the nuclear phase-out . This can be explained by the history of the Emmendingen FDP, whose leading actors in the 1970s, including Hans Erich Schött , Member of the State Parliament at the time, were actively involved in the protests against the planned Wyhl nuclear power plant .

In February 2010 it was announced that Ehret would no longer run for the state elections in 2011. He cited the black and yellow government's energy policy as the reason for this. He considers the planned extension of the service life of nuclear power plants to be unacceptable. In the fall of 2011, Ehret finally announced - like Schött before - his resignation from the party, but remained a non-party member of the FDP parliamentary group in the district assembly.

family

Dieter Ehret has three brothers. He is married and a Protestant. He also has a daughter.
