Dieter Graebner

Dieter Gräbner (born June 16, 1939 in Dresden ) is a German journalist and author.

Life

Dieter Gräbner completed a commercial freight forwarding apprenticeship after completing his secondary school leaving certificate, then worked for various forwarding companies and began his journalistic activities in 1964 as a freelancer for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung in the sports department and as a regional reporter for the Hessischer Rundfunk radio . He studied drawing and painting for two semesters at the evening school of the Academy for World Trade and also two semesters at the evening school of the Städel Art Institute in Frankfurt am Main .

Since 1965 he worked in various functions and areas of responsibility as a reporter and editor for the Frankfurter Rundschau , Neue Revue , Bild-Zeitung , Abendpost / Nachtausgabe , Quick , Stern , Die Zeit . From 1990 to 1992 he was editor-in-chief of the Jewish community newspaper in Frankfurt / Main and correspondent for the general Jewish weekly newspaper . From 1992 to 2004 he was the chief editor and head of department of the Saarbrücken City Association edition of the Saarbrücker Zeitung , for which he still works as a series author today. As a ghostwriter, he wrote speeches and articles for politicians, managers and artists and developed PR strategies for associations and institutions. As a book author, he mainly deals with contemporary history topics.

Awards

In 2001 he received first prize in the Konrad Adenauer Foundation's local journalists 'competition for outstanding journalistic achievements, and in 2002 the special prize in the Konrad Adenauer Foundation's local journalists' competition.

In 2013 Dieter Gräbner was awarded the Medal of Honor of the German War Graves Commission (VDK) for special services.
