Dieter Leipold (lawyer)

Dieter Leipold (* 1939 in Passau ) is a German lawyer and emeritus professors .

Life

Leipold studied law at the Universities of Munich and Salamanca . In 1962 he passed his first state examination in law in Munich. He then worked as a research assistant at Rudolf Pohle's chair in Munich . There he received his doctorate in 1965 and passed his second state examination in law in 1966. Four years later , he completed his habilitation with a thesis on temporary legal protection.

He held his first chair at the University of Erlangen , where he worked from 1970. In 1979 he moved to the Institute for German and Foreign Civil Procedure Law, Department 2 at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg , where he researched and taught until his retirement in 2001.

Dieter Leipold was awarded the title of Honorary Doctor of Law by the Universities of Thrace and Osaka . His main research interests were in inheritance law, civil law, civil procedural law and Japanese law.
