Dieter Magnus (* 1937 in Schotten , Hessen ) is a German filmmaker, environmental artist and film director.

Magnus studied art history, biology and philosophy in Mainz and Saarbrücken and was trained as a sculptor. He developed from a painter to a film and object maker to an environmental artist who has the socially appropriate and ecological design of public spaces as his theme. Dieter Magnus lives in Wackernheim near Mainz.
