Dieter Puchta (born August 1, 1950 in Sulzburg ) is a German management consultant, bank manager, university professor and politician ( SPD ).

education

After graduating from high school in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1970, Dieter Puchta studied social sciences, law, psychology as well as economics and administrative sciences at the Universities of Freiburg and Konstanz . In 1974 he completed his studies with a degree in economics and then did his doctorate with Bruno Frey with a dissertation on the Deutsche Bundesbank .

Professional background

After working in a tax consultancy and auditing company in Friborg, he moved to Zurich as the head of a publishing house in Switzerland and then worked in the vocational school service, mainly training bank clerks and mechanical engineers. From 1980 to 1988 he was tax and social officer for the community of interests of cross-border commuters.

In 1992 he was appointed professor for general business administration at the Konstanz University of Technology, Economics and Design . In 2000 he became division manager for economic development at L-Bank Baden-Württemberg and in 2002 he was promoted to the board. In 2003 he moved to the board of directors of Landesbank Berlin in order to work under the leadership of Hans-Jörg Vetter in the initially failed restructuring of Bankgesellschaft Berlin AG. They were saved by a second, unapproved and unapprovable aid from the assets of the state-owned Investitionsbank Berlin , which was spun off from Landesbank Berlin with effect from January 1, 2004. After providing 1.1 billion euros from equity (special-purpose reserve) to rescue the bank company and taking on staff from the group, he was CEO of IBB from 2004 to 2009.

In October 2009 he joined a strategic management consultancy as a partner.

politics

In 1970 Puchta joined the SPD. In 1984 he was elected to the district council of the district of Waldshut and the municipal council of Jestetten . There he was also parliamentary group leader until 1992. From 1987 to 2001 he was chairman of the SPD district association Waldshut. In 1988 he was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg , of which he was a member until 2002. Puchta was the financial policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and from 1992 to 2000 chairman of the finance committee in the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg. On August 14, 2002, Alfred Winkler succeeded Puchta's member of parliament .
