Dieter Rümmeli

Dieter Rümmeli (born December 26, 1942 ) is a German businessman .

Life

Dieter Rümmeli came to Kiel in the 1950s. There he learned to sail at the request of his father in the youth department of the Kiel Yacht Club . As a sailor, he took part in the Kiel Week 24 times and won the Korsar once . Professionally, Rümmeli ran a shoe trade and later got into the oil business. In addition, he was on the board of directors of the Kiel Yacht Club from 1983 to 2005, and from 1985 onwards, as the successor to Otto Schlenzka, he was responsible for organizing the Kiel Week regattas for 20 years . During this time he managed to double the number of participating yachts to over 2000.

Honors

Dieter Rümmeli was honored with the Andreas Gayk Medal in 1996 and the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon in 2006 for his services as the organizer of the Kiel Week regattas .
