Dieter Stier (born June 29, 1964 in Weißenfels ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009 .

Life and work

1981 to 1983 Stier completed an apprenticeship as a zoo technician / mechanizer. Stier completed a distance learning course at the Stadtroda University of Applied Sciences and the Humboldt University in Berlin in 1989 as a graduate engineer in agricultural sciences. He has worked in agriculture since 1981, including a. as head of the Storkau estate and most recently as managing director of the Weißenfelser Reitverein and head of the Markwerben riding, breeding and training stable with cover and insemination station of the state stud Saxony-Anhalt and agricultural business.

From 1994 to 2007 Dieter Stier was a member of the district council in the Weißenfels district . He has been a member of the CDU since 1999. Until 2014 he was a member of the city council of Weißenfels.

On April 22, 2007, Stier was elected to the district council of the newly formed Burgenland district. In the constituent meeting on July 16, 2007 he was elected chairman of the district council and was confirmed in this office on July 7, 2014.

27 September 2009 won bull by the federal election with 33.0% of the primary vote, the direct mandate in the Bundestag constituency Burgenland - Saalekreis and was a member of the German Bundestag .

In the federal election on September 22, 2013, Dieter Stier was re-elected as a direct candidate for the federal constituency Burgenland - Saalekreis (constituency 73). With 44.8%, he achieved the second best first vote result in the state of Saxony-Anhalt.

On September 24, 2017, Dieter Stier won the direct mandate in this constituency in the federal election for the third time in a row with 33.6% of the first votes.

Dieter Stier is a full member of the Food and Agriculture Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Sports Committee . He is also a deputy member of the Defense Committee of the German Bundestag and was a full member of the Civic Engagement Subcommittee in the 18th electoral term .

Dieter Stier has been deputy chairman of the CDU regional group in Saxony-Anhalt in the German Bundestag since September 24, 2013.

Political statements

In January 2015, during a Bundestag session , Stier criticized the fact that in a report by the ARD Morgenmagazin program on veganism, it was not reported “on occasion about a farm or a business in the food industry”, but about “that you can now buy a vegan leather whip in the sex shop that was made from old bicycle tubes ”. He lacks “any understanding” for such reporting.
