Florian Bernschneider (born December 15, 1986 in Braunschweig ) is a German business economist (BA) and politician ( FDP ). From 2009 to 2013 he was the youngest member of the German Bundestag .

Life

After graduating from high school in 2006 at Martino-Katharineum , Bernschneider studied business administration at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW), which he completed in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts . In 2007 he also became an employee at Norddeutsche Landesbank (Nord / LB). After leaving the Bundestag in 2013, Bernschneider initially worked in the management of a medium-sized company consultancy and then became general manager of a regional employers' association.

Bernschneider is single and lives in the Braunschweig district of Lehndorf-Watenbüttel .

Political career

In 2002, Bernschneider joined the Young Liberals (JuLis), the youth association of the FDP. In the following year he was elected chairman of the JuLis Braunschweig; He held this function until September 8, 2009 and has been a member of the board of the Braunschweig JuLis ever since . In 2004 he was elected to the state board of JuLis Lower Saxony and was its deputy state chairman for press and public relations from 2005 to 2008. At the 36th Federal Congress in Braunschweig in 2008, he was elected as an assessor for advertising material and campaigns on the National Board of Young Liberals.

Bernschneider joined the Free Democratic Party (FDP) in 2003. For the 2005 Bundestag election he was appointed campaign manager of the FDP Braunschweig, and since the same year he has been a member of the district executive committee of the FDP Braunschweig. In 2008 he was elected deputy chairman of the FDP district association in Braunschweig. He is an assessor in the state board of the FDP Lower Saxony .

At the age of 19, Bernschneider ran for the first time in a political election, in the local elections in Lower Saxony in 2006 . In the council election 2006 he received 0.9% of the valid votes in the municipal election area 12 of Braunschweig (Eastern Ring) and was not elected. In the election of the city district council in Braunschweig's city district 120 (eastern ring area), with 0.7% of the valid votes, he also received no mandate. Two years later, in the state elections in Lower Saxony in 2008 , he received 5.2% of the valid first votes in state electoral district 2 Braunschweig-Süd ; his 42nd place on the state election proposal of the FDP was not enough for a place in the state parliament.

The JuLi regional association and the FDP district association nominated him as their top candidate for the 2009 federal election . As a direct candidate in the Braunschweig constituency , he received 5.4% of the first votes. His party received 11.4% of the second vote there , the national average 13.3%. Bernschneider moved into seventh place on the Lower Saxony FDP state list in the 17th German Bundestag . At the age of 22 he was the youngest MP there. He was elected spokesman for youth policy by the FDP parliamentary group. He was a full member of the parliamentary advisory council for sustainable development , of the subcommittee on “Citizenship Commitment”, of the committee for family, senior citizens, women and youth , of the study commission on growth, prosperity, quality of life , deputy member of the committee for education, research and technology assessment , deputy member of the interior committee and deputy member of the study commission "Internet and digital society".

When his party failed to pass the five percent hurdle in the 2013 federal election , he left the Bundestag in October 2013.
