Diether Rudloff (born November 6, 1926 in Kiel , † January 19, 1989 in La Floresta , Lleida Province , Spain ) was a German art historian , anthroposophist and writer.

Life

Born in Kiel as the first of four children, he spent many days in the rooms of his father's art print shop and in his grandfather's gilding workshop. His school years lasted exactly from 1933 to 1945, and he finished them as an air raid detector and anti-aircraft helper with the war high school diploma . From childhood, due to his polio , Rudloff was tied to a body that could only be moved with a wheelchair and with great effort.

He started studying art history , history and archeology at the University of Kiel . In addition to his studies, he founded an anthroposophical student group with fellow students. In 1953 he completed his studies with a dissertation on the Preetz monastery church .

From 1954 to 1961 he set up a museum in Eutin Castle on behalf of the Hereditary Grand Duke of Oldenburg , gave lectures and taught art history at various Waldorf schools . From 1962 to 1977 he worked as a feature editor for the anthroposophical journal Die Kommenden , with which he remained connected until his death.

In 1977 he founded his own publishing house for art and humanities in Gundelfingen im Breisgau , where he published his comprehensive - but only partially realized - art history in five "different colored" book series. In addition, he was a seminar leader and lecturer in various institutions; he also went on numerous art trips.

He and his wife Waltraud spent the last years of his life on his estate in Catalonia . Four months after her death, he slept there in his fireside chair.
