Dietmar Buehrer
Dietmar Kurt Bührer (born August 28, 1947 in Rielasingen , Hegau) is a German publisher and photographer .
life and work
After training as a printer at the Schwarzwälder Bote in Singen am Hohentwiel, he moved to the Stuttgarter Nachrichten in Stuttgart in 1968 . In 1970 he moved to Berlin. He took a job as a printer for the SPD- related daily newspaper Telegraf and the Nachtdepesche and passed his master craftsman examination. Bührer had been employed in the in-house printer of the Tegel correctional facility since 1990 , from 2001 until he left as its head.
As a photographer, Bührer is self-taught . Numerous photo exhibitions of his works have taken place at home and abroad. Since 1984 he has been the publisher and editor of the Berlin photo magazine Brennpunkt .
In 1984 he was appointed to the German Society for Photography (DGPh), and since 1987 he has been an honorary member of the German Association for Photography (DVF). In February 2011 Bührer received the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany. He had earned special merits through his professional, personal and photographic dealings with inmates in front of and behind the walls of the Tegel prison.
Bührer lives and works in Berlin.
