Dietmar Hummel (born October 20, 1973 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

Dietmar Hummel started playing soccer at FSV Rot-Weiß Stegen. The goalkeeper was appointed to the Freiburg youth team and joined SC Freiburg in 1986 . During his time as a youth player at SCF, Hummel was appointed to various youth and junior national teams (including U-15 and U-20). He took part with the national team at the Junior World Championships in Australia in 1993 , but was not used.

From the 1993/94 season, Hummel was in the club's professional squad. With the Freiburg team, he did not achieve the desired status as a regular goalkeeper. He made his debut for the first team on August 3, 1993 in the first round of the 1993/94 DFB Cup (8-0 against Kilia Kiel). His Bundesliga debut did not follow until October 11, 1996. He was used eight more times, six of them in the second division, before he moved to Karlsruher SC during the 1998/99 season. He remained without a commitment for the second division team and moved to Dynamo Dresden in the Regionalliga Nord-Nordost at the end of the season . There, too, he did not play a game for the first team and joined VfR Mannheim (Regionalliga Süd) after one season . He was only a substitute goalkeeper for the Palatinate. This was followed by the stations FC Rastatt 04 and FSV Rot-Weiss Stegen, his home club, where he supported his father Bernhard Hummel as a goalkeeper coach and was also active as an active player.
