Dietmar Petschl

Dietmar Petschl (born November 21, 1971 in Linz ) is an Austrian journalist and DJ .

Life & Professional Career

Since the late 1980s, Petschl has been working as a disc jockey under the artist name "DJ DeeDee" , including in the Vienna disco U4 and the Cabaret Fledermaus . From 1998 to 2003 he presented his weekly music program “Studio23” on the Viennese radio station Orange 94.0 .

Since April 2007 Petschl has been working for the culture department of the ORF , since 2017 he has been head of the Pop / Rock / Jazz department.

In 2018, Petschl presented his directorial debut as a documentary filmmaker together with Siegfried Steinlechner . In "Wiener Nights - Music and Melancholy" he portrays Ernst Molden (writer) , Willi Resetarits , Voodoo Jürgens , Der Nino from Vienna , Birgit Denk , Sibylle Kefer , 5/8erl in Ehr'n , Attwenger and Wanda (band) .

In 2019 he and Siegfried Steinlechner produced the documentary film "Bilderbuch - Ein Österreichisches Popmärchen" about the band Bilderbuch , the film premiered on October 6, 2019 on ORF2 .
