Sibylle Elisabeth Kefer (* 1976 in Bad Ischl , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian musician and music therapist .

Life

Youth and education

Born in Bad Ischl and raised in the Salzkammergut , Kefer took recorder lessons from the age of five . At the age of ten she began to learn the flute and at 14 also the piano . In the same year she took over the leadership of the Bad Goisern youth band , became a flautist in the Gmunden district youth orchestra and in the Jeunesse Orchester Camp. She also took drum lessons for two years at the regional music school in Bad Goisern .

Career

In 1995 she began training as a music therapist at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna . Musically she turned to jazz during this time , was a soloist with the Vienna Jazz Choir from 1995 to 1998 and completed a series of jazz courses (among others with Ines Reiger , Jörg Seidel and Agnes Heginger ). After completing her studies as an academically certified music therapist in 2000, she began to work in this profession at the SOS Children's Village Therapy Center “Bienenhaus” in Hinterbrühl near Vienna and studied jazz singing with Sumitra Nanjundan and Leila Thigpen at the Gustav Mahler Conservatory in Vienna .

In 2002 she began her career as a professional musician as a flautist and singer with the band Ausseer Hardbradler , of which she was a member until its dissolution in 2004. With the Hardbradlers , one of the most successful bands in the field of new folk music , she won an Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2003 as the best Austrian band. Another nomination in this category followed in 2004.

This was followed by participation in various Austrian band projects, including with the B-Funk Family and as a singer and flautist with Ernst Molden & Band . Since 2005 she has been teaching jazz singing at the Gustav Mahler Conservatory.

In 2007 Kefers first solo album, Alice in Wonderland , was released, which she released under the project name SiE . The songs, which she wrote and composed herself, mostly performed in standard German , one time in dialect and one in English, range between experimental pop and echoes of jazz and funk . Vocals, flute and piano are from Kefer, and the former guitarist and producer from Aussee Hardbradler Ernst Gottschmann , jazz bassist Alex Meissl and drummer Herbert Pirker , as well as guest musicians Clemens Wenger (piano), Clemens Salesny (saxophone, bass clarinet) and Christian Eidlhuber (Violin) and Brian Leonard (acoustic guitar, background vocals) with the recordings.
