Dietmar Post
Dietmar Post (born December 26, 1962 in Espelkamp ) is a film director and producer .
Life
Dietmar Post was born in Espelkamp and completed an apprenticeship as a printer at the Söderblom grammar school there after graduating from high school . He studied theater, film and television studies and Spanish philology in Berlin (Free University) and Madrid (Complutense). After completing his master's degree, he lived and worked in New York between 1995 and 2003. There he made his first short film Bowl of Oatmeal at New York University . The second short film, Cloven Hoofed , premiered at the Rotterdam Film Festival. This was followed by assistance to Thomas Schadt (Wall Street), Reiner Holzemer (Walker Evans) and Lutz Dammbeck (The Net). With his partner Lucía Palacios , he founded the production company Play Loud! In 1997 in New York as well as in North Rhine-Westphalia . Productions , which has also acted as a DVD and record label since 2006.
Critics call Post and Palacios the German counterpart to Direct Cinema directors DA Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus .
With technical contributions, Dietmar Post can also be found as a discussion partner for the daily newspapers taz and Junge Welt .
In 2008 Dietmar Post and Lucía Palacios were awarded the renowned Adolf Grimme Prize .
