Dietrich Hermann I von Merveldt zu Westerwinkel (born November 29, 1598 - † January 28, 1658 ) was Chancellor in the Principality of Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Dietrich Hermann I. von Merveldt zu Westerwinkel was born as the son of Hermann Dietrich von Merveldt (Herr auf Westerwinkel) and his wife Maria von der Recke in the old Westphalian noble family von Merveldt . He was married to Cornelia Droste zu Vischering, daughter of the Heidenreich Droste zu Vischering . They had the daughters Clara Sybilla, ∞ Reinhard Caspar von Schade, and Maria Ursula, ∞ Heinrich Adolf von und zu Schwansbell. After Cornelia's death he married Gertrud von Ketteler (1600–1630). The sons Dietrich Hermann II (Amtsdroste in Wolbeck) and Adolf Dietrich Hermann (1623–1639, Canon in Paderborn) come from the marriage .

Act

On November 11, 1630, Dietrich Hermann received the appointment of official resignation in Wolbeck. On January 24, 1636 he received his appointment as chancellor from the elector . The cathedral chapter raised concerns about this because of the many offices. After a long dispute, Ferdinand ordered the immediate installation on June 23, 1636. He remained in the office of Chancellor of the Monastery of Münster until his death. On February 12, 1643 he was appointed by the elector - with renewed resistance from the cathedral chapter - to head the accounting chamber. From 1644 to 1649 Dietrich Hermann was the envoy of the Hochstift and Kurköln in the peace negotiations during the Westphalian Peace Congress . On February 10, 1638 he was also appointed as a feudal judge. On July 28, 1650, he acquired an entitlement to the office of Drosten for his son Dietrich Hermann . He followed his father in 1658 as Drost in Wolbeck.
