Dietrich Ratzke

Dietrich Ratzke (born March 30, 1939 in Danzig ) is a German journalist .

Life

After graduating from high school, Dietrich Ratzke completed a commercial apprenticeship as an industrial clerk in Duisburg . He made up his Abitur at an evening grammar school in Oberhausen and studied law at the University of Cologne .

While still a student, Dietrich Ratzke began working as a freelancer for the Neue Ruhr-Zeitung and later for the Neue Rhein-Zeitung .

Dietrich Ratzke was editor of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger from 1964 to 1970 , and editor-in-chief of the municipal law journal "Der Rat". Between 1970 and 1982 he was head of the service of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and from 1982 to 1995 General Manager of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung GmbH. He headed the “ New Media ” division and was a member of the Board of Directors of RTL-plus , Luxembourg.

From 1987 to 1995 he was head of the media development and media studies division and founding managing director of the FAZ's own institute for media development and communication GmbH. Ratzke was director of the Free Russian-German Institute for Journalism at Lomonossow University, Moscow and editor of the journal Medien-Critique .

He was a professor in the journalism faculty at the State Lomonossow University in Moscow and has been teaching at the universities of Gießen, Siegen, Bochum, Halle, TH Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Riga / Latvia, Vilnius / Lithuania, Tartu / Estonia and at the management academy of the German Federal Post .

Dietrich Ratzke was a founding member of the "Munich Circle - Supranational Association for Communication Research", Munich. As an expert he is a member of the Enquête Commission of the German Bundestag “New Information and Communication Technologies” and is an elected full member of the International Academy for Information, Moscow.

Dietrich Ratzke has been married since 1965 and has two children. He lives in Wehrheim im Taunus .
