Dilly Duka (born September 15, 1989 in Montville , New Jersey ) is an Albanian - American football player who is mainly used in midfield .

Career

Youth and amateur football

Duka grew up in Montville as the son of Albanian immigrants from Debar . While at Rutgers University , Duka played 36 games for his university's college team. He scored ten goals and prepared five more. In 2008 and 2009 he also played for Newark Ironbound Express in the USL Premier Development League .

Club career

On January 14, 2010, he was chosen as the eighth pick in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus crew . He made his competitive debut on June 29, 2010 in a cup game for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup against the Rochester Rhinos .

After two seasons, Duka was transferred to Chicago Fire on February 1, 2013 . The Columbus crew received Dominic Oduro in return .

On July 29, 2014, Duka left Chicago and switched to Montreal Impact in exchange for Sanna Nyassi . In the 2014 season, Duka played 14 league games for Impact and scored three goals. In the following 2015 season , he scored two goals in 27 games. In addition, he was used in three playoff games in the 2015 season, where he also scored a goal.

In early 2016, Montreal Impact announced that Duka would not be in the Canadians' squad for the 2016 season . This was justified with the fact that Duka wanted to move to a European football league and was no longer interested in being used for the Canadians.

National team

Duka is generally eligible to play for both the US and Albanian national soccer teams. Initially, Duka decided on the US national team.

At the U-20 World Cup in 2009 , Duka was used in all three USA games.

In the meantime, however, Duka has contacted the Albanian Football Association FSHF and is waiting for his nomination for the Albanian national team.
