Dimitri Claeys (born June 18, 1987 in Sint-Amandsberg ) is a Belgian racing cyclist .

Athletic career

Dimitri Claeys won the one-day race Gouden Fiets Eddy Merckx in 2003. In the 2005 season he won the two junior races Vlaams-Brabant Classic Zemst-Laar and the Vlaams-Brabantse Pijl Korbeek-Lo. In 2006 Claeys drove for the Continental Team Unibet-Davo and since 2007 he has been driving for Davitamon-Lotto-Jong Vlaanderen , the farm team of the ProTeam Silence-Lotto . In his first year there he was successful with his teammates in the team time trial of the Volta a Lleida . In 2008 and 2009 he was the Belgian U23 road champion. In 2013 and 2014 he won the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in the U23 / Amateurs category, as he had no contract in those years. 2015 was his most successful year to date, in which he won the Tour de Normandie , a stage of the Tour of Croatia , the International Wielertrofee Jong Maar Moedig and the Grand Prix de la Ville de Pérenchies . With his team Vérandas Willems he won the Paris-Arras Tour team time trial .

In 2016 Claeys won a stage of the Tour de Wallonie and the GP Jef Scherens , and in 2018 the 4 Jours de Dunkerque . In 2017 he started the Tour de France for the first time (163rd), and again the following year (130).
