Dimitrios Verginis ( Greek Δημήτριος Βεργίνης , born May 15, 1987 in Thessaloniki , Greece ) is a Greek basketball player .

Career

Dimitrios Verginis began his career in the youth team of Astoria Panor in Thessaloniki, where he played until 2004. After a season with Anatolia, Verginis moved in 2005 to the Greek first division club PAOK Thessaloniki . At the beginning of the 2007/2008 season, Verginis, at the age of 20, became the youngest team captain in the history of the traditional club, after Konstantinos Vassiliadis had previously moved to Olympiacos . In the same year Verginis took part in the EuroChallenge Cup with PAOK and was appointed to the All-Star Game. In the summer of 2008 he moved to the Greek record champions Panathinaikos Athens where he won the first professional title of his career in 2009 with the Greek club cup .

National team

Verginis went through all of Greece's junior national teams and took part in a total of four European championships with them.
