Dingazi is a rural municipality in the department of Ouallam in Niger .

Dingazi is in the Sahel region . The neighboring communities are Banibangou in the north, Filingué in the northeast, Tondikandia in the southeast, Ouallam and Simiri in the southwest and Tondikiwindi in the northwest. The municipality is divided into 41 administrative villages, six traditional villages, 93 hamlets and 13 camps. The main town of the rural community is Dingazi, consisting of the administrative villages of Dingazi Banda and Dingazi Laba.

In 2017, more than one hundred individual wild animals of the endangered West African giraffe were counted in Dingazi , whose main distribution area is in Kouré .

history

In 2002, as part of a nationwide administrative reform, the canton of Ouallam was dissolved and its territory was divided between the municipality of Ouallam and the newly created rural municipality of Dingazi.

population

At the 2012 census, Dingazi had 44,486 inhabitants who lived in 4,555 households. At the 2001 census, the population was 36,933 in 3,902 households.

Economy and Infrastructure

The parish is located at the transition from the agropastoral zone in the north to the rain-fed zone in the south. Labor migration abroad is of economic importance for the population .
