Dirk Behrens

Dirk Behrens (born September 1, 1954 in Bremerhaven ) is a contemporary painter and graphic artist who became famous in the Elbe-Weser triangle .

biography

Dirk Behrens was born in Bremerhaven in 1954 and spent his childhood in nearby Spaden . Between 1975 and 1982 he studied painting and graphics at the University of Fine Arts in Braunschweig and history at the Technical University of Braunschweig . From 1983 to 1986 Behrens was a teacher at the Harsefeld secondary school .

Behrens has been a freelance painter since 1993. He has been using his studio in Issendorf since 2000.

Artistic creation

Behrens mainly paints with acrylic and oil on paper or canvas, sometimes combined with ink, pastel or colored pencil. His subjects range from the abstract representation of crowds to free experiments with color to the almost representational representation of landscapes.

The artist's more recent projects include a. a series of images inspired by postcards and already exhibited at the Hanseatic Day 2007 in Lippstadt and in the KunstRaum Hüll (near Drochtersen ), and the recording of landscapes using a self-made projection device, which was carried out in 2005 at an anniversary celebration in the Rüstjer Forest (near Deinste ) and in 2007 was used in the castle park of Evenburg in Leer .
