Dirk Kelle (born February 3, 1967 in Löhne ) is a former German handball player .

Career

Kelle comes from Löhne in the Herford district . At the age of 17 he made his debut in 1985 at VfL Mennighüffen in the Oberliga Westfalen . After a year he moved to the second division club TuS Nettelstedt before joining the Bundesliga club TSV Bayer Dormagen in 1987 . In Dormagen, Kelle became a national player under coach Petre Ivănescu and ran a total of nine times for the German selection . He later moved to league rivals TV Eitra before Kelle was thrown back by two cruciate ligament tears .

After more than a year injury break, Kelle went to Spvg Versmold for two years , which had just been relegated from the 2nd Bundesliga. With the Versmoldern he missed the rise in both 1994 and 1995. The back player later played for TV Emsdetten , Eintracht Hildesheim and HSG Löhne-Obernbeck , before ending his career in 2006 after tearing his fifth cruciate ligament. Today Kelle lives in Minden .
