The VfL Handball Mennighüffen (officially: VfL Handball Mennighüffen eV ) is a handball club from Löhne in the Herford district . The club was founded on June 12, 2017, when the handball division of VfL Mennighüffen , which was founded on May 14, 1931, split off. The first men's team took part in the DHB Cup twice.

history

The handball players of VfL Mennighüffen achieved promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen for the first time in 1982. After relegation in the meantime in 1988, two years later, the ascent succeeded. In 1993, the Mennighüffener third in the Oberliga Westfalen were one point behind the TV Schwitten . Another third place was achieved in 2002 when the team was only one point behind master GWD Minden II. A year later the Mennighüffener finished third again, this time five points behind champions ASV Hamm . In 2011, the team was relegated to the Westphalia Association, before being promoted again five years later.

VfL took part in the DHB Cup twice. When they first took part in the 2000/01 season , the team won first at HSG Kropp-Tetenhusen and then against HSG Schwerte-Westhofen , before the Mennighüffener failed in the third round at 23:34 at GWD Minden . The second participation was in the 2005/06 season , where VfL failed in the first round with 19:34 at the second division Stralsund HV .
